First, let us apologize to those of you that are/were actively following our projects. Saying we are up to our ears in the construction of our cabins is a huge understatement. We have been so busy trying to keep the project moving, that we let our blogging efforts slide.

Second, progress has continued. But not without problems. We survived the winter but lost a lot of time and have seriously compromised our schedule. Since our last post, we have moved the project ahead despite the following hurdles:

1. Some of the neighbors are less than supportive of our efforts. They yell at us and our crews. They complain about the construction dust and noise, early weekend work, obstructed road, dirty road, portapotty, vehicles parked in the street, etc.
2. Crews regularly do not show up on time.
3. Crews sometimes don't show up at all.
4. Crew members leave during the middle of the day without informing anyone.
5. Crew members leave for lunch and not returning. They have a variety of "reasons" including alleged recreational drug use and preoccupation with an ongoing lunchtime 9-ball tournament.
6. Dogfights between the crew's canine mascots. And yes, blood was spilled before anyone could stop it.
7. Subs do not show up.
8. Subs show up and complete partial scopes of work that do not connect in logical progression.
9. Vehicle breakdowns have been experienced by nearly every member of the teams.
10. Delays caused by multiple material runs.
11. Delays caused by our newly formed "transportation service" because of the number of workers without vehicles and/or drivers' licenses.
12. Working out payment logistics to workers and subs. Many of the workers do not have bank accounts. It is now a regular occasion for one of us to have to bring wads of cash to the site to pay the workers.
